At rev 5, this gets to be a serious application that can be recommended. I’m not going to rate 5 in the 4x entry. I came into 4 with high hopes, but cynicism. I couldn’t recommend version 4, though I bought it. Unless you score it at a hefty discount, it just isn’t cutting edge in 2013: At the right discount price point, its still worth a buy. However, version 5 is a PLAYER. What you get at the entry level is very good. 5 EX I have not tried, but the increased feature set there sounds like its a true professional tool. You can do much of this in Photoshop, but MangaStudio is now becoming a benchmark application at a better price. In 5, they changed muddled menu names - into a better translated function names, revamped the structure a little & in 5.03 the vector conversions make this quite nice. I have to correct my comment about not being qualified for updates. At current writing, MS 5 is at 5.03 & the upgrades from 5.0 have been free. I couldn’t recommend version 4, though I bought it. Manga Studio is by far the best application for digital inking, far superior to Photoshop or Corel Painter. It is most suitable for drawing with a Wacom and the closest thing to draw on a sheet of paper. It's almost perfect. Worth its price.
